For the Chicken Burger Patties

For the Chipotle Yogurt Sauce

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • Salt to taste

For Assembling the Burger

  • 4 whole grain burger buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Red onion slices
  • Extra avocado slices (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chipotle Yogurt Sauce

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix the plain Greek yogurt, chopped chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, lime juice, honey, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Blend and Chill: Stir the ingredients until well combined. Adjust the seasoning to taste. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 2: Make the Chicken Burger Patties

  1. Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, diced avocado, minced garlic, chopped onion, lime juice, fresh cilantro, ground cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Form Patties: Gently mix the ingredients until well incorporated. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty.
  3. Preheat Pan: Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  4. Cook Patties: Place the chicken patties in the skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Rest Patties: Once cooked, transfer the patties to a plate and let them rest for a few minutes.

Step 3: Assemble the Burger

  1. Toast Buns: Lightly toast the whole grain burger buns on a skillet or grill until they are golden and crisp.
  2. Layer Ingredients: Spread a generous amount of chipotle yogurt sauce on both halves of each bun. Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half, followed by the chicken patty.
  3. Add Toppings: Top the patty with slices of tomato, red onion, and extra avocado if desired.
  4. Complete the Burger: Place the top half of the bun over the toppings. Serve immediately with a side of your choice.
