Chocolate Drip Cake recipe

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

1. Bake the Cake

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions, using the eggs, water, and vegetable oil.
  3. Pour the cake batter into two 9-inch round cake pans.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cakes to cool completely on a wire rack.

2. Make the Chocolate Drip

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it begins to simmer.
  2. Remove the saucepan from heat and add in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  3. Stir the mixture until smooth and the chocolate has completely melted. This will create a luscious chocolate ganache for the drip.

3. Assemble the Cake

  1. Place one layer of the cooled cake on a serving plate or cake stand.
  2. Spread a generous layer of chocolate frosting on top of this layer.
  3. Add the second cake layer on top and cover the entire cake with the remaining chocolate frosting.

4. Add the Chocolate Drip

  1. Carefully pour the chocolate ganache around the edges of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
  2. If desired, fill the top of the cake with more ganache for a fuller chocolate effect.
  3. Decorate with sprinkles to add a touch of fun and color, if you choose to use them.

5. Chill the Cake

  1. Place the cake in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. This will help set the chocolate drip and make slicing the cake easier.
